Sorting & Grading Capability

Sorting and grading is central to Tomra Fresh Food's turnkey packhouse solution and incorporates our industry-leading Spectrim, InVision2 and Inspectra systems. These innovative systems allow packhouses to reduce labor required for sorting, whilst significantly improving the consistency and accuracy of the sorted product.

Weighing

Tomra Fresh Food sorting machines use a unique electronic weighing system that is able to weigh produces from 25 to 2000 grams and 10-15 pieces of produce per second, per lane.

Color

Tomra Fresh Food Spectrim’s intelligent learning software allows the system to intuitively recognize produce types and adjust grading accordingly. The system captures up to 30 images of individual produce for improved accuracy.

Density

Tomra Fresh Food’s produce density sorting identifies defects such as frost damage, loose or puffy skin by analysing diameter and weight readings for individual produce.

Sizing

Spectrim optically sizes produce by measuring multiple diameters and comparing these digital images to ensure the highest possible accuracy.

Shape

Spectrim accurately sorts produce by shape to make sure that the overall look and consistency of the packed produce is improved and the unwanted shapes are separated.

Surface Defects

Spectrim uses high-technology cameras and its advanced software to detect the defects on the produce surface such as skin blemishes, insect/bird damages and misshapen fruit.

Internal properties

Inspectra's NIR sensors sort produce on a variety of internal properties such as brix level, internal defects and internal color.
